Financial Aid Terminology

Loan
Money that is borrowed, and have to pay back, usually after graduation or set date.
 
Grant
Free money given to you by the government or an organization. You don't need to pay these back, but you have to adhere to their conditions.
 
Bursary
Money given based on financial need, bursaries don’t need to be repaid.

Scholarship
A financial award based on things like grades, achievements, or community involvement. Scholarships don’t need to be paid back.
